Palmeropoly!
Each learner completes Speller's Choice activities in their Weekly Homework Log. These activities earn points towards Palmeropoly spins, our class version of Homeworkopoly, a classwide incentive program.
They can choose which learning style suits them best - Spelling City (online) or Speller's Choice (online or paper-based). Either way, completing your homework means increased spelling skills and Palmeropoly spins.
Spelling Program
Each student is progressing through our Spelling program at their own pace. We have combined our Direct Instruction spelling program, Spelling Mastery with online practice at SpellingCity.com. 80% is required on the final quiz before moving on to the next lesson.
Speller's Choice
For "Speller's Choice" homework, you may choose from the activities listed below. Each activity has been assigned a point value. Your activities MUST add up to 4 points for Grade 4, 5 points for Grade 5 and 6 points for Grade 5 by the end of the week. You can choose one or more items to do each night, as long as you complete "Speller's Choice" homework at least three nights during the week.
Complete the activities you choose on looseleaf in your Homework Log. You must use your Spelling Words for these activities. Make sure that you have your parent initial if you have completed an activity with a star beside it. The starred activities do NOT have to be completed in your Homework Log but you DO need your parent's initial. All spelling words must be used unless the directions say otherwise. You may NOT complete an activity twice.
You will earn a Palmeropoly spin on Friday for each point more than your grade that you complete!
