Daily Homework Log
Establishing a homework routine is very important for future academic success. As part of our traditional focus, teachers will assign and expect students to complete meaningful homework on a daily basis.
In our classroom students earn points, Classroom Cash and Fantastic Friday for successfully completing their homework routine. This looks like
1. Copying all homework and information from the blackboard into the Planner at the end of the day.
2. Taking home all needed materials including reading book, Homework Log and Planner.
3. Giving Planner to parent to read and sign.
4. Completing all homework.
5. Asking parent to check over homework and then sign the Homework Log.
6. Bringing completed homework and signed Log and Planner to school.
Parents can help by having a regular schedule for completing homework. A parent's job is not to nag and remind but to set up consistent expectations that homework must be finished properly before other activities can happen. It is best for learners to work away from the computer and TV! Set a reasonable amount of time to finish work. If the work is not done during this time, the logical consequence is that privileges such as video games are not earned. As well they will lose access to rewards at school. Students usually learn very quickly that it is best to take responsibility and get their homework done!
The yellow Homework Folder includes
1. This week's Homeword Log,
2. Speller's Choice,
3. Reading Tic Tac Toe,
4. Reading Fluency sheets and
5. Math worksheets.
It also includes a record of the day's activities and student's behaviour. You can read about the Social Learning Program and our Classroom Cash economy. The Social Learning page includes more information about our program.
