We have been studying the Arctic - the people, the animals, the climate. This week we watched the Magic School Bus Goes to the Arctic and learned how animals keep warm in such an extreme environment. Then we experimented ourselves with insulating materials simulating fur and blubber (don't worry - no animals were harmed during our experiment!) Look at the Arctic webpage if you would like to see the video and activity page.
Our studies of the Arctic are coming along swimmingly! Did you know that there are two North Poles? We learned about the geographic North Pole and the North magnetic pole this week. We watched a Brainpop movie and a youtube video about travelling to the north pole on a Russian nuclear submarine. Students had a chance to draw how they would get to the North Pole. I thought they were great. Hope you enjoy them too.
This is my fourth year as a District Behaviour Support and Intervention teacher with the New Westminster School District. My focus is on students who are having serious challenges with self-regulation across many domains - biological, emotional, cognitive, social and prosocial - at school, at home and in the community. My role is to provide support to teachers and teams to create an environment for success for the student.
